Tom Singer recently gave a presentation at ALFA International’s International Client Seminar in Miami, Florida on March 7. 2014. The panel presentation was called “Honesty Is Such a Lovely Word: Is It Too Much to Ask?” The panel included lawyers from ALFA firms in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, as well as in-house lawyers from Walgreens and Caesar’s Entertainment. They explored when and why people lie, cheat, and steal, and what businesses can do to discourage dishonest behavior by managers, employees, vendors, and customers. They also discussed the real impact of government regulations, the Rules of Professional Conduct that govern lawyers, and ethical codes that are now common on business websites and for business organizations.
