IN THE PROFESSION
Mr. Singer is an active member of legal and industry organizations, for which he has often served in positions of leadership, including the Wyoming State Bar and the State Bar of Montana (serving as a member of the latter's Professionalism Committee since 1992 and chairing the committee from 1998-2004). He is also a member of the Defense Research Institute, Montana Defense Trial Lawyers, and the International Association of Defense Counsel.
Mr. Singer is committed to the advancement of legal educational and professional standards, putting this into practice as an instructor of Legal Research and Writing at Gonzaga Law School from 1983 to 1985. For the next ten years, he was on the faculty of the Legal Assistant Program at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana, where he was named "Outstanding Instructor" three times. More recently, Mr. Singer taught trial skills and ethics at the NITA-style trial school of the International Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy in Boulder, Colorado.
Mr. Singer is a frequent speaker and panel member at legal conferences and industry meetings. Topics include legal ethics, Internet and technology law, employment law, non-competition covenants, product liability and professional liability, litigation methods, trial preparation and appellate advocacy.
Mr. Singer has published a number of articles in legal journals, including "To Tell the Truth, Memory Isn't That Good" (63 Montana Law Review 337, 2002), the "1998 Montana Legal Update" (American Corporate Counsel Association), "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act" (Montana Commercial Law Manual, 1996), and "Business Law Developments in Montana" (Corporate Counsel, 1995), among many others. He was editor of the "Summary of Montana Law" in the 1992 edition of the Litigation Desk Reference. Mr. Singer's white papers include "What Covenant Not To Compete Is Worth The Paper It Is Written On?"
After graduating from law school, Mr. Singer served as a Research Assistant in the Legislative Services Office of the Wyoming State Legislature, where he helped draft legislation and advised legislators and committees on the state criminal code and involuntary hospitalization statutes. Before entering private practice, he also served as campaign manager for a congressional election committee in Washington state and as a Law Clerk in the Thirteenth Judicial District Court in Billings, Montana.
Mr. Singer is the recipient of Martindale-Hubbell's "AV" rating for legal ability and ethics, the highest possible rating awarded by this nationally recognized, peer-reviewed rating system.
