Mark Evans

Mark began practicing law in 1985 in Seattle, Washington. He moved to Bozeman, Montana in 2000. His law practice focuses on meeting the needs of the real estate, financial services, and construction industries.  Mark is peer review rated “AV” Preeminent by Martindale-Hubbell, the highest possible rating in both legal ability and ethics standards, reflecting the confidential opinions of members of the bar and judiciary.

He has extensive experience in real estate, business, commercial, construction, and probate litigation; creditors’ rights, foreclosures, workouts, and bankruptcy; banking and finance, secured financing, and equipment leasing; real estate, zoning and land use; business law; construction liens; and real estate, business, and commercial transactions.  Mark’s clients include banks, credit unions, equipment leasing companies, mortgage brokers, loan servicers, private lenders, title companies, real estate investors, property managers, real estate brokers, homeowner associations, developers, architects, engineers, builders, contractors, suppliers, and business owners.

IN THE PROFESSION

He has served as the President of the of the Gallatin County Bar Association, and is a member of the American Bar Association (Real Property, Litigation, and Business Sections), American Bankruptcy Institute (Secured Creditor, Real Property, and Bankruptcy Litigation Committees), State Bar of Montana (Bankruptcy Section, CLE Institute Committee, and Annual Meeting Committee), and Gallatin County Bar Association (Past President and Board Member).  Mark has moderated and presented at the annual real estate continuing education program produced by the CLE Institute of the State Bar of Montana. He has also written numerous articles and spoken before industry groups and attorneys on various real estate and business topics.

IN THE COMMUNITY

Mark is an active member of the community and has served as a Member of the Bozeman Planning Board and the Bozeman Zoning Commission, Committee Chair for the Bozeman Noon Rotary Club, Board Member of the Bozeman Sunrise Rotary Club, Treasurer of Junior Achievement, CAP Mentor, Graduate of Leadership Bozeman XIII, Member of Montana Ambassadors, Den and Webelos Leader of Cub Scout Pack 670, Assistant Leader of Boy Scout Troop, AYSO Soccer Coach, and Youth Nordic Ski Instructor for the Bridger Ski Foundation.

In his free time, Mark’s interests include family, community service, Nordic skiing, mountain and road biking, hiking and backpacking, alpine climbing, fly fishing, target shooting and sporting clays, canoeing and sailing, gourmet food, wine and single malts, reading, beaches, and travel. He was an active member of the Colorado Climbing Club and the Seattle Mountaineers and has taught climbing and led climbs in the Pacific Northwest. Mark has two grown children and lives in Bozeman.
