Gerdrum is well-versed in state and local government issues, with a particular emphasis in insurance, finance and securities matters. From 2000 to 2003, Ms. Gerdrum served as Deputy State Auditor, where she was chief of staff to the Commission of Insurance and Securities and oversaw the state regulation of these industries in Montana. While in law school, Ms. Gerdrum served a clinical internship with the Honorable Magistrate Judge Leif Erickson in the Missoula (Montana) Federal District Court. Before that, she was an intern at the law firm of Paoli & Shea.
